ADAPT. QUIT. EVOLVE.
The only thing constant in life is change. And for those of you, who fear change, I hate to tell you but learn to accept it—it’s life.
Forward motion is the goal, while incorporating actions with your words. In order to keep growing and moving forward we need to learn three things—and that is, adapt, quit or evolve.
Of course there are moments in life that may seem like you need super powers to dodge the curveballs of life, but deciding whether your current situation is beneficial to your newly developed path is up to you in order for growth.
Life is always changing. It’s scary—yes—but in order to stay on top of our goals and our careers, we must adapt. Industries are always changing, which require us to adapt our skills. It may be hard and it may change our interests, but it also might lead us to finding other ways to be more efficient and effective while we're on our journey.
However, there are moments that might not be in our best interest, and when it gets to that point it’s time to let go—trust me, there’s bravery in quitting. When you realize you’re wasting energy on a project, person or task, then it’s time to move on. We’re trained when we’re younger that quitters never win and as valuable as that lesson is, there are also moments that may hold us back from achieving our new ideas and goals. Maybe our daily tasks aren’t congruent with our ambitions anymore, so why waste energy? In order for us to create a new path in life, we might have to leave something behind to find something better.
There are also times in life when you realize that maybe your pursuits aren’t necessarily leading you toward your goals effectively, which will require you to evolve. As we get older, we find ourselves in new places with new thoughts and values, we start changing without even knowing it—our looks may change, our beliefs may change—even our goals. This just means things need to be updated, not thrown out. This part isn't about quitting, this is about seeing the good in the big picture, while evaluating what needs to change for the sake of accomplishment.
Here's the goal in healthy evolution: focus on small changes to improve yourself and know that every step forward is considered progress.
Change isn’t easy, but evaluating your goals and who you are will end the unnecessary energy, which will bring positivity and success to your life. Every moment and every ounce of energy should be dedicated to your goals. When I find myself stuck in a rut, I tend to ask myself what do I need to do to launch myself forward, adapt, quit or evolve?
