THE WEEK ISN'T OVER: FIVE WAYS TO FIND INSPIRATION TO GET THROUGH THE WEEK
Sometimes life gets a little cloudy and searching for the silver lining is filled with disappointment and darkness and before we know it, the week becomes a heartless journey of emptiness and discouragement.
But when that happens, I try to look for some encouragement in order to fill my mind with inspiration and light.
The darkest times are the moments we find our greatest strength, but it’s also a time where it requires the highest form of determination and effort. Celebrating the small moments and the little things in life might be the tipping point toward a better, more encouraging week.
Here are my five things that might sprout some encouragement in order to get through the week:
1. Fresh Flowers. Flowers always metaphorically and literally brighten up a room. Who said you can’t buy flowers for yourself? Surround yourself with the beauty of your favorite flowers—it may just carry into the way you perceive life.
2. Quotes. This might sound simple, but if you have certain people who inspire you, then find their greatest quotes and place them in your planner or on your bathroom mirror, so it's a daily reminder. Here are some of my favorites:
"You don’t get anything for nothing. Everything has to be earned, through work, persistence and honesty." -Grace Kelly
“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.” -Rumi
“Never mistake knowledge for wisdom. One helps you make a living; the other helps you make a life.” -Eleanor Roosevelt
3. Jam Out. This works wonders for me because I drive a lot, which requires a lot of thinking and alone time—I actually love that aspect of it, but I also find that my day gets better when I jam out to my favorite music. Yes, I am that person who turns it up obnoxiously loud (I might try to also sing it like Beyonce—don't lie, you do it all the time too).
4. Date Night for You. Everyone deserves to celebrate themselves and to have a night of doing something they thoroughly enjoy. This always helps me get through the day because I have something to look forward to in the evening. It could be the simplest thing, such as taking a walk after work, enjoying a cup of tea with your favorite book or buying a new face mask and enjoying a bubble bath.
5. Spread Kindness. I know how hard it is to pull yourself together and sprinkle kindness everywhere during the darkest day, but this helps immensely. The more compassion and positivity you spread, the more you'll start to feel the energy reciprocated. Life is a mirror—what you give is what you get. Capturing random smiles from strangers or giving someone a compliment is one of those small moments in life that always warms my heart.
Life gets rocky sometimes, but find the little moments in life that give you comfort and light. Things will always get better.
What encourages you to get through the week?
