THE BEGINNING
Courage;
the ability to do something that frightens one.
At the ripe age of 24, I have finally gathered up enough courage to start a blog. You may be thinking or not thinking—who knows, but I’m going to say it anyways—what’s so scary about writing a blog and why did it take so long? Honestly, I have no idea, but I have always been someone who has doubted myself and compared myself to lots of people, which usually results in me talking myself out of actually accomplishing my goals to the fullest.
But I am here. So let’s do this.
I wanted to choose a day that was special to launch my blog, so what better day than on my mama’s birthday. I am hoping to capture life through writing and photographs, and maybe even providing a little inspiration. Life is a wild ride and even if this blog is just about journaling moments lived by me then great, but it also gives you a chance to jump in and take a journey with me and maybe even provide some of your life stories or reminisce about similar times in your life.
I owe a lot of who I am to my mom, hence why I chose this date to launch my blog. She gave me life, and she continues to give me life because of the many decisions I make and the character traits that fit together as puzzle pieces.
She is the most dedicated person I know—dedicated to not only her work and her family, but also herself.
Many people say their mother is selfless, but my mom very much takes care of herself, which I find admirable. If you don’t take care of yourself than who will?
Recently, I have been really trying to focus on being present in life and pushing myself past my comfort zone in order to grow and evolve, which is why the word courage is important to me—believe me, it’s hard, and many times I want to crawl back into my warm, cozy shell. But my mom has always said that my body and mind is my home, so respecting it and taking care of it is the most important in order to have a good relationship with yourself.
Ultimately, that’s all I have. That’s all I will ever have.
I think of it as a domino effect, when you have a strong relationship with yourself then the friendships and connections you make along the way will be more positive and effective in your life.
Emotions will come and go—just like people—so creating a positive relationship with yourself provides you with the best super power. So creating this blog and finding the courage to constantly evolve is a something important and is a huge step in this journey for me.
So here’s to my first post. Cheers to life and all the upcoming adventures.
No matter what sweet or sour moments are to come my way, I know I’ll be making lemonade out of the lemons that are gathered, or rather thrown my way.
p.s. Happy Birthday to my mama!
